STRANGER MINES

STRANGERMINE

In class myself, and a partner were paired together to conduct an investigation on a stranger, someone whom we have never seen. We were just given their name, with some go to websites to name a few ( Peekyou.com, Pipl.com) in order to find information on our stranger. I was amazed at the amount of information my partner and I were able to find. Their maiden name mother's name father's name husband, where she lives were she use to live, the amount of money she makes yearly, past jobs facebook account, twitter account you name it we found it. All of the information that was located was the basic information that is needed to ask security questions, when setting up any major account, such as bank, credit cards. This makes it easy to steal someone’s identity.  When I search my own name I couldn't find any personal information may it’s because I hardly never ever, put my digital tattoo out in cyberspace.  I really do think this should be discussed with children. Especially since they are always putting things on the web that ,can hurt them in a long run such as pictures (nude) and or bad activity. They are not aware. That these things do not go away, not even when they delete it, this was an eye opener for me as a parent and an educator will pass the importance of be careful while on the internet.

Just like a tattoo on your body it never go away!

Gloster

Gloster

I Used Glogster to create a lesson plan in the form of a bulletin board, in order to communicate with substitute teachers(in order to follow the curriculum) with the Parents In order to keep track of the class activities. I found using the Gloster a little difficult in the beginning but once I fiddled with it, the simpler it became. although navigating through the program became more understandable. I soon found out that posting to my blog and website was a little complex. but overall this is a great tool I would continue to use it in the future.

SO WHAT IS GLOSTER....

Glogster is the leading global education platform for the creative expression of knowledge and skills in the classroom and beyond. They empower educators and students with the technology to create glogs multimedia posters-with texts, photos, video, graphics, sounds, drawings, data, attachments and ,more....

Four Seasons Depending on what season you are teaching this lesson plan in, take your students outside for a gross motor activity appropriate to that season. For example, you could have your preschool students play T-ball in the spring and summer seasons. In the autumn season, take your students on a hike. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of the changing leaves. In the winter season, go outside and let your preschool students make a snowman!
Art Center Activities for Preschool Lesson Plan: Four Seasons Give each of your preschool students a long sheet of light blue construction paper. Show them how to fold the construction paper in four parts, lengthwise. Help those students who need help with the folding. Fold the paper onto itself. Have your preschool students draw a picture of a bare tree in the winter season on the first section. On the second section, have them draw a picture of a budding tree in the spring season. On the third section, have your preschool students draw a picture of a tree fully leaved in the summer season. You can either put up pieces of flannel with the words spring, summer, autumn (or fall) and winter written on them in black sharpie marker or you can just put up 4 flannel trees representing the four seasons. Have your preschool students count as you point at the words/trees one-by-one. Have your preschool students cut out a number 4 shape that you have printed on blue paper. Then let them draw four pictures on the number 4: one picture of something they like about spring, another of something they like about summer, and so on for autumn and winter.
Pre-writing Center Activities for Preschool Lesson Plan: Four Seasons For younger students, provide sheets of paper with the letters S and s lightly printed on them. Have the children trace the letters. do the same with the number 4. For older students, provide an example of the letters S and s and the number 4. Have the students practice writing the letters and number freehand.

Alphabet QR flash Cards

Using QR codes I created Alphabet Flash cards. children will be presented with flash cards, with a picture representing a letter of the alphabet, along with a  QR code printed beneath, to reveal the missing letter. Using an Ipad children will reveal the missing letter. on the back of the cards, are the names of the picture along with the letters. This activity will promote children in Pre-k-Kindergarten with letter recognition, letter sound and the us of technology in the class. the page can also be printed for further learning.I found making the QR codes quite easy. I enjoyed making the QR codes and attaching them to lessons. I look forward to using QR codes in the future.

Looking Back, Looking Ahead

LOOKING BACK……
http://pictures.com/s?q=gradution#pg=4
Looking back on the first day of class I was ever so overwhelmed. I didn't know what I had gotten myself into. I knew it would be a challenge, I was up for it! The first night when I left class I was spinning. But more excited, I wanted to know how to create my own blog (new to me),I wanted to know how to create my own web page(Also new to me). I have always been amazed by technology, having the chance to incorporate it into my career has been even better.

http://pictures.com/s?q=gradution#pg=4

Once I started doing the work I soon understood it. The webinar was wonderful, the resources that  Susan made available are outstanding (I will continue to use these resources in my career) as well. I became excited, this class was beginning to look like I imagined it would. I was on my game( so I thought), then along came Twitter.. Here comes the rollercoaster again, I was familiar with twitter, but never entertained the idea or joining or following. The assessment at hand seemed difficult, only because I was reluctant to start yet another social media. I will soon find out it was not just another social media site, it was a whole new world of social and professional resources, which has enlightened my knowledge as an educator. I am very pleased with my end result,  I only wish the class was more tan one day a week, other that that, I am leaving with more than I expected. " I'm so happy".....

LOOKING AHEAD….. Now that I have the knowledge that I have learned, I will continue to use it, and advance with it, in my career. Now I know how to blog (a little), mange my web page. And most of all use technology in my profession as well as my personal life.

PLN

 Image from iconspedia.com
PLN'S (personal learning network) are informal learning network that consists of  people that interact with and derives knowledge  in a personal learning environment. In a PLN, a person makes a connection with another person with the specific intent that some type of learning will occur because of the connection. This is just what I encountered while setting up and following my twitter page for the past four weeks, for my TIE 300 class.

In The Beginning

This was my first time setting up and following a twitter page. I never thought to start one, thinking it was just another social media page to communicate with friends and family. boy was I ever so wrong. Following educational resources and people allowed me to see and understand more within my field(Early Childhood Education). Being an up and coming teacher, I need all the resources I can get. while I found it difficult to follow and tweet all the time, I did find it most interesting. when tweeting you can't post over 30 characters at one any given time. I was use to posting longhand on face book, however on twitter you are  limited to what you can post.

Tweet, Tweet!

In the beginning I also was blocked off of my twitter page ,I don't know why it would not allow me to post or follow anyone for about a week.
I contacted customer service, it took a while but I finally was back up and going. Following so many educational companies and people I have read many different post and articles.one of the educational resources that I tweeted was @educationweek one of the articles from their site that I found interesting titled " Study weighs academic effects of sports, Early sex, Bullying on teenagers." according to the article, "researchers concluded that the benefits of social aspects of participation than with physical activity itself." I found this very interesting being the mother of a teen, and involved in many sports at school she had a episode where her grades we slacking because of  all the sports she was involved in. we had to come up with a plan for her, she decided to stick with Track and drop all the other sports.

Chat

@ptchat was the name of the chat I participated in the topic at had was about Myths and facts on Introverted children.one myth I tweeted was "introverts don't like people. on the contrary, introverts intensely value the few friends they have. For me this was a little overwhelming at first but once I got in there and started I felt more comfortable ,soon as I got the hang of it, it was time to end. I do feel I will participate in more the near future. In conclusion the overall assignment it was pleasant and informational to me as well as helpful to get me involved in educational conversations with other teacher professionals.

SAMR Model

The Presenter

copied from Susan webpage
The presenters' name was Susan Oxnevad. Ms.Oxnevad is an instructional technology facilitator,(a tech consultant, blogger, and webinar host). she enjoys blogging about all things tech integration(cooltoolsfor21stcentrylearners). Ms. Oxnevad provides a variety of online and in person opportunities for teaching professionals.you can also follow her on twitter.@soxnevad

what is SAMR?

SAMR_model
Image created by Dr. Ruben Puentedura,
 Ph.D. http://www.hippasus.com/rrpweblog
SAMR is a model that Identifies 4 stages of tech integration for teachers. The higher the level of an activity, the higher the educational achievement when using SAMR .SAMR is considered to be one of the most relevant learning models that teachers can use to integrate    technology in education (step by step guide).

Substitution
In a substitution level, teachers or students are only using new technology tools to replace old ones, for instance, using Google Docs to replace Microsoft Word. the task ( writing) is the same but the tools are different.

Augmentation
Augmentation is a different level although we are still in the substitution mentality except this time with added functionalities. Again  using the example of Google docs, instead of only writing a document and having to manually save it and share it with others, Google Docs provides extra services like auto saving, auto syncing, and auto sharing in the cloud.

Modification
Modification is  when technology is being used more effectively not to do the same task using different tools, but to redesign new parts of the task and transform students learning. An example of this is using the commenting service in Google Docs, for instance, to collaborate and share feedback on a given task.

Redefinition
Redefinition means that students use technology to create imperceptibly new tasks. Redefinition is "when students connect to a classroom across the world where they would each write a narrative of the same historical event using the chat and comment section to discuss the differences, and they  use the voice comments to discuss the differences they noticed and then embed this in the class website".

SOME EXAMPLES PRESENTED

Google docs

Ms. Oxnevad, talked about Google Docs which  is a free Web-based application in which documents s and spreadsheets can be created, edited and stored online. These  files can be accessed from any computer with an internet connection and a full-featured Web browser . Google Docs is a part of a comprehensive package of online applications offered by and associated with Google .
Users  can import, create, edit and update documents and spreadsheets in various fonts  and file formats, combining text with formulas, lists, tables and images. Google Docs is compatible with most presentation software and word processors. Work can be published as a Web page or as a print-ready manuscript. Users can control who sees their work. Google Docs is ideal for publishing within an enterprise, maintaining blogs or composing work for viewing by the general public.
when use in  the class teachers can create a collaborative project in which multiple authors work together in real time from geographically diverse locations. All participants can see who made specific document changes and when those alterations were done. Because documents are stored online and can also be stored on users' computers. I think its a great tool to use when doing group projects. I will be trying this out on my next writing assignments.

Wikispaces

Ms.Oxnevad also talked about a cool tool named Wikispaces (Wiki) is used to publish content. Wiki gives groups (classes) the freedom to publish pages that are long-lived, and regularly updated, and built by many contributors to discuss(communicate)the content placed on the wiki. I was first introduced to this tool in my technology class this winter ( 2014).

Overall Experience with the Webinar

I enjoyed the webinar, this was my first encounter with a webinar. I liked logging in at home ( in a relaxed setting). I loved the information and what ever I didn't quite get, I was able to go back and review it later (recorded just like the night of the actual webinar) with speaker explaining and examples(audio) feed back. I was able to understand it more clearly the second time around. It wasn't like a traditional seminar, it was like  a  meeting over the computer.I would love to attend more webinars in the future, this information was great for me as an up coming( teaching professional ). Being able to be apart of a group of individuals with the same career goals ( making teaching more interesting and exciting for children through Technology).
