PLN'S (personal learning network) are informal learning network that consists of  people that interact with and derives knowledge  in a personal learning environment. In a PLN, a person makes a connection with another person with the specific intent that some type of learning will occur because of the connection. This is just what I encountered while setting up and following my twitter page for the past four weeks, for my TIE 300 class.

In The Beginning

This was my first time setting up and following a twitter page. I never thought to start one, thinking it was just another social media page to communicate with friends and family. boy was I ever so wrong. Following educational resources and people allowed me to see and understand more within my field(Early Childhood Education). Being an up and coming teacher, I need all the resources I can get. while I found it difficult to follow and tweet all the time, I did find it most interesting. when tweeting you can't post over 30 characters at one any given time. I was use to posting longhand on face book, however on twitter you are  limited to what you can post.

Tweet, Tweet!

In the beginning I also was blocked off of my twitter page ,I don't know why it would not allow me to post or follow anyone for about a week.
I contacted customer service, it took a while but I finally was back up and going. Following so many educational companies and people I have read many different post and articles.one of the educational resources that I tweeted was @educationweek one of the articles from their site that I found interesting titled " Study weighs academic effects of sports, Early sex, Bullying on teenagers." according to the article, "researchers concluded that the benefits of social aspects of participation than with physical activity itself." I found this very interesting being the mother of a teen, and involved in many sports at school she had a episode where her grades we slacking because of  all the sports she was involved in. we had to come up with a plan for her, she decided to stick with Track and drop all the other sports.

Chat

@ptchat was the name of the chat I participated in the topic at had was about Myths and facts on Introverted children.one myth I tweeted was "introverts don't like people. on the contrary, introverts intensely value the few friends they have. For me this was a little overwhelming at first but once I got in there and started I felt more comfortable ,soon as I got the hang of it, it was time to end. I do feel I will participate in more the near future. In conclusion the overall assignment it was pleasant and informational to me as well as helpful to get me involved in educational conversations with other teacher professionals.
